General research interests:
I am interested in plants, insects, and factors that influence their interactions, diversity and distribution. My main research interests are on the impacts of drivers of environmental change, such as climate change, land use and the spread of invasive species on plant and insect communities. My research involves the use of lab and field experiments, molecular genetics/genomics techniques, and (simulation) modeling. Ideally, I try to focus on interactions between anthropogenic drivers and phenomena of insect/plant populations that are likely to have pervasive or substantial effects on plant/insect populations/communities, but have remained unexplored.
I am also really excited by the surge of public participation in science (citizen science) and plan to be a part of this movement and what I think will be a new paradigm shift that will change (for the better) how we as a society do science. |
