I ran across Coursera today, which offers the public to take "the best online courses for free." One of the classes being taught is "Climate Literacy: Navigating Climate Conversations." The online class is 8 weeks long and starts in May 2013. Although I probably won't have time to take the class this year, it looks like an excellent course to learn the basics (and more) about climate science - how climate works - and political (policy) and social (mitigation/adaptation) aspects of climate change. Here's the link to the site: https://www.coursera.org/course/climateliteracy
